Where Reflections Bring Healing, Grace and Renewal

A New Chapter for Scribed in Light: Two Books, Two Very Special Stories

For years, writing has been a part of who I am. Sometimes it has been a place to sort through life’s challenges. Other times, a way to preserve memories, share a little wisdom, explore my faith, or simply find something worth laughing about in the middle of the chaos.

And believe me, life has provided plenty of material.

Many of you have followed my reflections here at Scribed in Light, but what you may not know is that I’ve also spent years writing manuscripts that have never made their way into the public eye.

Until now.

I’m excited, and admittedly a little nervous, to share that I’ve begun publishing my books!

My first two children’s books, A Star for Baby Jude and Big Sister, Best Friend, are beginning their journeys into the world.

Although both are children’s stories, they come from two very different places in my heart.

Some stories are born from imagination. Others are born from experiences we never imagined having to endure.

A Star for Baby Jude was written in loving memory of my grandson, Jude Alaric, whose life, though heartbreakingly brief, left a lasting imprint on our family.

Co-written with E. V. DeLong, this gentle story was created with grieving children and families in mind, particularly siblings trying to understand the loss of a baby they were already learning to love.

Grief is difficult enough for adults to navigate. For children, finding the words to express what they feel can be even harder.

My hope is that this little book might offer comfort, reassurance, and a reminder that love does not end simply because a life was brief.

If it helps even one child feel a little less alone in their grief, then it will have served a beautiful purpose.

On a much lighter note, Big Sister, Best Friend celebrates something equally precious: the bond between sisters.

Inspired by my granddaughters, Arianna Grace and Madison Lee, this illustrated keepsake explores the everyday adventures, laughter, companionship, and love that make sisterhood so special.

It’s a celebration of those little moments that eventually become treasured memories.

The story was written with the hope that sisters might one day look back through its pages and remember not only the things they did together, but the love that carried them through childhood and beyond.

Because growing up may change a great many things, but the bond between sisters can last a lifetime.

And This Is Only the Beginning

While these two books are my first steps into publishing, children’s literature is only one part of my writing.

Over the years, I’ve written across several genres, including faith-based reflections, personal experiences, humor, fiction, and longer manuscripts exploring some of life’s more difficult questions.

Some of those stories have been patiently waiting their turn for years.

Others seem determined to keep me awake at night until I finish them.

Apparently, my imagination never received the memo about normal business hours.

I have much more I’d like to share, and I’m actively working toward bringing additional manuscripts into publication.

It’s a learning experience, to say the least. Between formatting, illustrations, editing, publishing requirements, and occasionally wondering whether my computer and I are still on speaking terms, this journey has been anything but boring.

But it’s also been incredibly rewarding to watch something that began as an idea become a book that someone can actually hold in their hands.

A Simple Thank You

I don’t know where this publishing journey will lead, and I’m not measuring its worth solely by how many books find their way onto someone’s shelf.

For me, writing has always been about something deeper.

Connection. Encouragement. Understanding. Faith. Laughter. And sometimes, simply reminding another person that they aren’t walking through life alone.

Those are the things I hope my words continue to offer, whether through a blog post, a children’s story, or one of the many manuscripts still waiting to be shared.

I’ll be adding information and purchasing links as the different editions become available.

In the meantime, thank you for being here, for reading, and for sharing this little corner of the world with me.

I’m grateful to have the opportunity to begin this new chapter.

And if all goes according to plan, there are many more pages yet to come.
