Where Reflections Bring Healing, Grace and Renewal

for mom, with all my heart — a mother’s day memory

Yesterday was the kind of day that warms more than your skin. The sun stretched wide across the sky, kissing the earth with golden light, and the air was sweet – filled with hints of spring florals and the whisper of summer grass.

It took me back.

My mind drifted to a time when I was maybe four or five. Before school. Before life got big…messy.

I breathed that memory in like comfort. Me, sitting in a wicker basket, toy in hand, gazing up at a sky made not of clouds- but bed sheets.

They danced on the line, sunlit and billowing like sails in a gentle sea breeze…and there she was – my mother.

Arms outstretched, gracefully pinning the edges with her delicate hands. The sun caught her hair, and her voice, light as a breeze, rose in song. The sun caught her hair and shimmered across her cheeks – as her voice melody “Que Sera, Sera…whatever will be, will be…” eased my spirit with contented delight.

She sounded just like Doris Day. Truth be told…she looked like her, too. Then she turned, just slightly. Enough to glance at me through that soft canopy of bed linens, and she smiled. Not just any smile. One of those slow, adoring, infectious ones – the kind that warmly spreads across you, and pours into your soul.

It’s one of my fondest memories…of her…of being small…of feeling safe in the kind of love that only a mother can wrap you in.

Today on Mother’s Day, I carry it close. I carry her close. Forever my sunshine through that canopy of bed sheets.

To every mother – past, present, and yet to be –

Today is for you.

For the quiet ways you give without being asked.

For the nights you lose sleep so others can rest.

For the invisible work that holds families together.

This is for the strength that’s wrapped in gentleness. For the patience behind the eyes. For the courage tucked into every “I’m okay”…and for the love that pours out day after day, without applause or spotlight.

May you feel seen.

May you feel cherished.

May you know – deep in your soul – that what you’ve given matters.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

you are everything this world runs on….

Love, Light, and Grace,
